EXTREME WEATHER
Music Overview
The opening and closing songs brought elements of suspension, gravity, and, in the end, hope. The other song, which occurs in the middle of the video, provided a lighter mood with references to folklore and country music. So, the parts that were more explanatory about the theme were lighter, connecting to the delicate animation and illustration; and the parts questioning the importance of the issue were deeper with the seed of hope in it.
The Instruments
Voice, cellos, guitars, and drums were used in the deeper core. For the lighter country-style core, we used acoustic guitars, guitars, mandolins, and folk percussion.
The Scales
Beyond the minor (for more shady moments), and major (for more bright moments), the Dorian scale was used to add a little spice and a ‘seed of hope’.
Sound Design
The sound design was built to bring an approximation to the realistic sounds of the events represented in the video. Added to that, some other sounds were designed specifically for their respective events.
