SPANISH INQUISITION
Music Overview
We developed two core themes for this piece of work. The main theme was a mixture of Spanish Folklore Music, Antique Church Choir, and Orchestra. The other one was a typical arrangement for popular music of the 15th century. This approach could take care of the central topics of the video, like geography, the historical period, and the dichotomy between Catholics and non-Catholics in that context.
The Instruments
An orchestral setup, Spanish guitars and percussion, and a church-style choir were used for the main theme. For the 15th century theme, an Oud and a Mandola were used, both of which were popular at the time.
The Scales
We used a variety of scales. For the dark and gloomy moments, the minor and diminished scales suited very well. For the Spanish guitar insertions, the Gypsy Spanish Scale, among others.
Sound Design
The sound design was gentle and followed the direction of underlining some parts of the scenes, especially some characters.
